New Balance who is back in business with cool and refreshing ideas and decided to go back to its roots and is releasing the 576 classic design in collaboration with the wonderful designers from Grenson (until now the 0006-235 boot is one of the most beautiful shoes ever – birthday wish list). These shoes are designed and manufactured in both factories of these companies – both in Great Britain.
The grade A Italian calf-skin leather and the lovely brogue stitching on this sneaker give it a one in a million look and you can be definitely sure that the attention to detail and the quality of the materials will meet the highest standards.
I hope we will get the opportunity to see this collaboration in other colors too (imagining black leather with white sole….mmmmh)
This limited edition will be available at Grenson.co.uk on the 9th of January and for selected retailers from 23rd of Janurary. So get ready to hit the ground running.
Hey guys so hope you enjoy the new entry to Nerd Factors awesome dress up – This time it’s JOHN BENDER from The Breakfast Club.

This wonderful Japanese brand Bed J.W. Ford founded by Shinpei Yamagishi in 2011 with his buddy Keisuke Kosaka is the under dog of japanese fashion labels in the western world which is a shame and definitely needs to change. With their weird and bold cuts, the lovely color palette and brilliant design ideas like cutouts in standing collars, overlong flannel shirts or skinny suede pants they appeal to my sense of style.
The pictures they take for their lookbooks are not really to my taste most of the time. Especially the weird hats and the clashing sneaker/shoe choices (i am a picky stylist – sue me!) but if you look at the essential designs and the collection you can see the innovation & inspiration that goes into each piece.
So click through the years and see the changes in design and the evolution/revolution of a designer brand that is painting Japan with their ideas.
The jamstik+ is a digital guitar with real strings and real frets. This weird piece of technology connects to your mobile device (iphone/pad, androids ..) and works with a lot of music apps for beginners and pros.
It senses where your fingers are even before you pluck a string which makes learning incredibly intuitive and with the instructional guide that comes with it i imagine it will be a walk in a park … probably not but at least i can play in the park without any heavy guitar lifting (in my world guitars weigh a lot). You don’t need to tune this baby ever which is connected via Bluetooth LE to your device.
It is also a MIDI controller which basically means you can make it sound like any instrument (bass, e-guitar, drums?) but what i love about this whole idea is that you can easily put this little device in your backpack and you are good to go and jam anywhere anytime.
I mean i have to be honest that you look really ridiculous when you hold them standing up but who cares. Basically check out this awesome music videos people have created with the jamstik+ and you will see the potential – prices are depending on sales or other special discounts somewhere between 299 and 379 dollars.
I wanna jam it wid you.
We’re jammin’, jammin’,
And I hope you like jammin’, too
When Jami Morse Heidegger—a third-generation heiress to Kiehl’s – founded Retrouvé she put her years of experience with chemistry into her new line of skin care products. High tech, exclusive and a bit on the expensive side but as far as ingredients go you can’t get anymore effective. What i love about it is that it’s without any dyes, artificial fragrances, parabens, silicone, petrolatum and mineral oils. Basically this smooth (its smooth as hell) floats on your skin like a cloud (not kidding). Of course this is unisex because if i wanna wear perfume i go buy one.
I am testing the Intensive Replenishing Facial Moisturizer which i use as overnight treatment and i have to say i feel refreshed in the morning. My 36-year-old skin does feel plump & nourished (i had to look these words up because i can’t seem to find a way to describe the feeling properly). Filled with vitamin C, Squalan, white tea, pomegranates and apple-stemm cells (i love the idea of having apple cells on my skin) and spreads easily on the skin so you don’t need a handful like ordinary face cream that you can feel the whole day. It actually melds into my skin.
So lets see if i can look like i feel.

Say hello to this rugged buddy! A new collaboration between the sneaker store Saint Alfred and Asics – high-tech everything was basically the idea behind this sneaker for rainy days or armageddons with a Gore Tex membrane , Nubuk (water-resistant material), Rip Stop Nylon. The design on the other hand is inspired by the colors of the hauntingly beautiful city of Chicago. It’s a sneaker that would look really good on Batman on casual friday or for a quick jog around the downtown area.
So get your sneak on and look for these babies on the 5th of December 2015
Titelhelden in Hamburg
Paar Laden in Wien
The video is basically 12 seconds on a Wednesday in Chicago but i really like the feel of it and as Chicago is my favorite city in the United States i love watching it.
There are two types of people – the ones who know and love escape games and the ones who have never heard of them. As i belong to the first group and am incredibly obsessed with these kind of games i want to introduce my recent conquest. HINT HUNT Vienna – just opened right on Mariahilferstrasse! For all you non Viennese people they also rock other cities like London, Paris, Dubai, Cape Town & Moscow.
And Hint Hunt is not your standard garage/basement escape game company – they took it upon themselves to take interactive genre to the next level. The highly immersive gameplay and amazing interior design separates this company from all the other ones. All other games are also awesome but if you ever think about trying out the genre of escape games this is definitely the best starting point. The helpful staff is hilarious and always helpful with newbies and old timers. So i will be back this week and challenge the submarine level for a second time because you can actually play a room more than once which is also absolutely unique in the world of escape games (believe me i have tested 10 locations).
So i can honestly recommend to all you guys … call up your friends (4 is a good number) reserve a room and thank me later.
ESCAPE GAME INTRODUCTION
Escape Games are a type of physical adventure game in which people are locked in a room with other participants and have to use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles, find clues, and escape the room within a set time limi (usually 60min). The games are based on “escape the room” video games in which the player is locked inside a room and must explore their surroundings in order to escape which by now has change to themes like: rob the bank, escape the prison, defuse the bomb, haunted house, egyptian mummy, indiana jones and many more. Players must be observant and use their critical thinking skills to escape the room.
SUBMARINE MISSION GAME INTRODUCTION – written by Hint Hunt but it is spot on so why change it? 🙂
In 2015 HintHunt® took a deep breath and decided to raise the bar and flood the Earth with even higher quality games. We took everything we learnt from operating escape rooms and redesigned the whole experience from the ground up. The result is a whole new category we call MISSION GAMES and its first version comes in the form of the HintHunt® Submarine.
Certainly we kept all the pros from the classic escape games, like the immersive 60-minute-gameflow, the challenging team exercises, the ecstasy of finding clues and solving puzzles. But, we also realized there is way too much room for improvement in these games, so we came up with a super new game room, that’s capable of running multiple missions through an intelligent, but seamless system. All this built behind a professionally designed & beautiful interior.
Don’t be surprised that there are no photos of the rooms which would be insanely stupid to show you how it looks like inside before you go there….it’s like saying Bruce Willis is dead the whole time in The Sixth Sense – Spoiler! 🙂
An independent designer sneaker brand based in Amsterdam and founded in 2009 by the talented Guillaume Philibert, the label Filling Pieces shows that there is a market for amazing sneaker designs and their designers. Each and every beautiful pair incorporates a high quality craftmanship & a premium/unique feeling. But at the same time it comes with a reasonable price tag which is a lovely thing to do for sneaker addicts. 🙂
And what’s even more important for you guys is maybe that the collection is still handmade with great care in Portugal, using only the finest Italian materials. I do hope they will become a global brand and i hope i could do my part in writing about them and staying updated on new designs each step of the way. 🙂
Ps: Sneakers are around 200 Euros.
It’s not about the road not taken but rather about the kind of luggage that should accompany you during that endeavour. It’s at this moment that french designer François Lipovetsky and his company Lipault meet up with Jesse Shwayder legacy of Samsonite (by the way – it’s a really interesting story that all started in 1910 in Denver). But what’s important is the timeless design and the eye for quality material and quality finish in both companies. So i picked my favorites and i am gonna show them off because i can and you might be overwhelmed by the sheer volume on their website. As you all know black, grey, white are my colors so don’t be surprised.
On the Samsonite Side we have the INTEGRA in beige (it’s so incredibly retro that this might be the hippest bag right now and nobody knows it), the complete design line of LITE CUBE DLX (the leather finish on the handle, the silver glow…and sturdy as hell) and the PARADIVER (because it looks really cool in yellow and black)
On the Lipault Side we have the complete sexy line of PLUME PREMIUM in black (i still have to test those but they look sexy as hell) especially the backpack and the small trolley which i think would be the perfect size for a weekend trip and the PLIABLE DUFFLE in black (for a weeks getaway).
So go browse, buy and let’s meet later at baggage claim.
I have been using headphones since my first Sony Walkman and been fighting with those damn cables ever since. And i have read all the tips and tricks to get the cable mess in check but this is just fighting symptoms not the disease. But the solution is here and its called Wireless In-Ear Headphones. And the first company i wanna introduce is called ELBEE.
It comes with high quality sound and you can control it with voice commands and slight head movements. As this is a Kickstarter i haven’t had the chance to test them personally but the technology is solid and i hope i get to test these and many more for you guys to give you an awesome insight into the new world of cable free music.
So you are on the road and get into the situation that you need to write a long email or some other kind of work but fidgeting with the virtual keyboard sucks (i swear its gotten worse since my iPhone 6s) so for all those journal entries there is the iLepo Flyshark. What i like about this baby is that it fits in your pocket – its basically the same size as your smartphone.
Made out of aluminium alloy it connects via USB or Bluetooth and only 13!mm thick and connects to iOs or Android phones so no worries where your phone future is headed.
It also has the fn functions which allow you to take pictures, screenshots or search remotely. I have no clue if this will come in handy but it’s an additional gimmick which is absolutely fine with me.
Price is also nice with approx. 50 bucks.
Oh how i love this brand! Look at these wonderful and gorgeous designs. I will let you know if i get my gorgeous new jacket. Outerwear is their theme although they do have the rest of the stuff too you need for not getting arrested for indecent exposure. But with a rough material like these and the amazing cutting technique it’s just ridiculously beautiful. I love the toned down color scheme and right now i am a fan of anything that looks a little bit apocalyptic (weird i know). All the pockets for the next zombie attack or hoodie for the killer virus….. i digress.
And the price are tender to your wallet.
So with a beautiful name like this what can go wrong. Thanks for the good work P.A. since late 2008 NYC 😉
No i am not talking about time travel but about changing our future and helping the environment or people in need. Giving money especially if you don’t have a lot of it yourself is a huge step and a beautiful gesture. You could instead eat at that fancy restaurant or take the trip you always dreamt about or buy new clothes or a watch. This is where these two brands try to fit in. They try to combine a well crafted and elegant watches with a good cause.
If you buy a Bearing with its elegant timeless 🙂 design the company will support charities (Oceana, World Land Trust and Water Collective) with 15% of their income. It’s not a lot but most company give 0% so i love the idea that of a business that gives back.
TUK Watches are a taking a bold step and for every watch purchased you are providing a family or school classroom in Cambodia with a water filtration system to allow access to clean, safe drinking water. http://rdic.org/water-filtration-system/ – the design is minimalistic & modern.
Watch Change Happen… A Fitting Slogan.
As of this moment both companies have not reached their goal yet so go ahead and treat yourself to a beautiful timepiece and at the same time 😉 support a good cause.
The reason why I love Review Fashion other than the insane price tag (seriously it’s absolutely affordable) is that the quality is just so much better than other big brands who first of all are available at every corner and through the sheer volume of their merchandise provide a uniform for the man/woman so everybody looks the same. But with Review it’s still possible to dress with style and look unique. And whats cool is that you can get almost the whole collection at Peek & Cloppenburg. Just check out the collection and tell me I’m wrong which i am not. :).
So this would be my favourite look all by Review. I was going for an end of all days layer look. As you can guess my favourite colors are black and white.
What i love about these is the GEL Cushoning System and the fact that it has a slip in system so i basically never have to tie my shoes again and as a lazy person its like Christmas. Also Asics dropped these in monochromatic blue and black and they also look frigging awesome. The mesh keeps the feet cool and the red is really really red on this original 90s runner.
So be bold make a statement!
So i finally upgraded to an Iphone 6s mainly because of the camera and because i am such a nerd i had to buy all the accessories known to man…. i know, don’t judge.
So one of my new acquisitions is the Vic Tsing 3 in 1 Clip on lens. It comes with two clips and 3 lenses (wide-angle is screwed on macro lens). The lens itself feels sturdy and is made out of aluminium alloy and is equipped with real glass lenses.
The Clip itself is a bit difficult to put on but after a couple of times i got the hang of it and its awesome that you have a little bag to put them in so you don’t lose them.
I really like this product and think that for 12.99 Euros it is an awesome gadget to have.
Check out the pics below.
In this new section i am trying to introduce once in a while or more often (depends on my state of mind) a new brand (fashion, shoes or whatever sounds good) label. So lets get started:
The brand Ucon Acrobatics has been designing since 2001 in Berlin and the founders Jochen Smuda und Martin Fussenegger have been working hard to create a lifestyle-brand with a strong focus on quality. The collaboration with artists and designers helps the brand to stay on top of things and provides a unique way for the costumer to select from a wide array of design ideas.
I am not in love with all the designs in the collection right now but enough designs to fill up my wardrobe, especially the black, white and orange section is beautiful and very on point and i do love the mens collection a lot more than the women. All in all i think the approach of the designers is very unique and fits into the street-style fashion of today and tomorrow.
So get your streetstyle look ready so you can be one of those guys who gets photographed on the street and lands on a blog of somebody who gets money for showing of your ideas as theirs *commence rolling of eyes*
Ucon Acrobatics including Online Shop
So basically nobody in the entire world cared about Gucci except of some weird fellas who were still stuck in the 90s and a few aficionados of the shoes. Those times are over and it is all thanks to the amazing design of Alessandro Michele who released his first own womenswear collection a month after he was appointed head designer and to the creative ideas by Marco Bizzarri.
The collection is shining with retro youthfulness in a perfect harmony between new and old, it is a big step away from the cheap Gucci Bling Bling to a more established, thought through design.
So let’s say farewell to the heads (Frida Giannini and CEO Patrizio di Marco) who got fired to bring back a brand from the brink of extinction. Sometimes you need to let go of the past.
So with this welcome to the fashion label probably envisioned by Wes Anderson and costume designer Milena Canonero.
The awesome collection of my favourite kitchen gadgets including some incredible prototypes from the intense banana slicer to the Vacuum Cooker.
Some of these are not out yet but like me you can subscribe to get a notification as soon as they start selling.
Mellow – A Sous-Vide – Basically it’s a vacuum packed water cooker used mostly be restaurants to cook food to perfection meaning the process of steaming is equal on all ingredients. You can remote control the cooking process through your smartphone which means you just throw the ingredients into the Mellow and start it by app so your dinner is ready when you get home.
Miito – This is my favorite product on the list – it is designed to heat any liquid directly in a vessel which means you don’t heat up any water you don’t need and save a lot of energy. It conveniently heats up any liquid (sauces, soups and so on)
Home to Nature – Growing you own fresh sprouts in three days – From clover, mustard, cabbage, fennel, radish, lentils and so on, do i need to go on.
Prepara – This company is designing the most beautiful gadgets for your kitchen. From the Evak (Vaccum Sealing Tube) through the Deluxe Mist Spray … just browse through their collection. I love it and have a couple of items at home already. The Evak is really good for coffee or cereal.
Gripet – It’s a fridge organizer which means it sticks to your fridge with magnets. so you can stick you notes to the fridge easily but be aware the magnet was too weak before and the whole thing kept sliding but hopefully they corrected the mistake.
Jamie Oliver Wood-fired Oven – It is quite expensive but for your perfect garden arrangement working with an actual wood-fired oven is the perfect way to experience cooking outside. The small one for 1100 and the big one for 2000 pounds.
Quirky Citrus Spritzer – A brilliant idea that actually turns your lemon into a citrus spray.
Banana Slicer – Somebody finally realized the need of this product – the agony to use a knife for cutting those stupid bananas is finally over. It frees us of the tyranny and opens our mind to finally be able to do the more important things in life… like peeling a cherry perfectly. And please take your time to read the comments by other buyers which at this moment are 5280 reviews and 570 questions answered to this sophisticated design. I spent an hour laughing.
One of my all time favorite movies and so i dedicated a post to him for his unforgettable look. Through all this years i still think that he looks awesome but maybe it’s because i have my nostalgia glasses on. But as a stylist i tell you this look will come back :).
Unfortunately I deleted the post by mistake so after a lot of people asking me for another version. Here we go with Ferris Bueller Look 2015.
Some things never change so his iconic jacket and his vest are still being produced by the same company.
The Leather Jacket – I swear one day i am gonna take the leap and order one.
The Vest – The same goes with the Vest here the link to the ebay seller (if it’s outdated then just search ferris bueller sweater vest)
Please don’t buy the one from amazon. It’s hideous. *As i was copying the link i couldn’t resist and bought one!*
And if you are a self-made designer here are the prints
The Shirt – Well it’s a white shirt, i don’t think you need a link or a picture :).
The Pants – Even though Ferris wears them a bit looser i love these Richard James pants
The Shoes – Check out these sweet babies !
The Sunglasses – Classic Clubmaster Ray Ban
The beret – Go for the all time favorite kangol beret.
By the way the red/yellow button/patch on the beret is that of the 32nd armored regiment with the motto “Victory or Death”
Which was Elvis Presley’s unit 🙂 and you get it right here
The Car – The incredible once in a lifetime – ultra rare 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California – One of the most expensive cars in the world as seen in this article.
If you don’t want to spend 11 million you can get almost the same car – for 100000 dollars – here. (if the link is expired search for the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder Modena)
In the heart of Vienna, to be exact at the Weltmuseum on Heldenplatz which basically is one of the best places to host – well anything…Zalando showcased their Pop Up Store with presentations by various Contributors. Designed so all the hipsters in Vienna would be happy (including myself) with rows and rows of their main brands and funny enough not a lot of shoes they presented themselves in a new way. Cool, Hip, trendy as long as it is #nichtalmodisch (translated – not old-fashioned) which was their hashtag for that event and their last campaign.
But i gotta say they managed to hit all the right notes for a brand in the progress of redefinition and i will look further in this matter and keep you guys informed.
Standing in the foyer of the Semperdepot squished between two fellow co-workers feeling like cattle I started thinking:
Why these kind of events more often than not go the wrong way. Everyone there was either working in the fashion industry or a fashion enthusiast. But instead of giving us for example a tour through the history of Austrian fashion by treating us with a short film presenting the “Making of” of the nominated main designers through a video or at least in someway make us excited that we were there for the brilliant fashion designers in Austria we were treated to an awkward monologue by Herr Hermes (the host) who’s name is the only thing he and fashion have in common.
The main award ceremony was so artless and badly organized that I wondered who in the world had the great idea to host the most prestigious award that the Austrian fashion world could give in 1/10 of the space the Semperdepot has to offer, then cram over 500 people into it and provide them with one unreachable bar.
As the minutes passed by I was informed about the installation that the masterminds behind Wendy & Jim – Helga Ruthner und Hermann Funkhauser had created and as the last words echoed away the doors to the main hall opened and I was treated to one of the best installations about fashion i have ever witnessed. The perfect lighting, the mixture between street magic and fashion, the music and the dark moody corners that were broken up by the bright lit places where models stood still in perfect unison. It made me happy to see that there is still so much energy and creativity left in this beautiful city of mine.
To be honest I would have loved to hear Hermann talk about the idea, inspiration and the making of this installation instead of an awkward joke about the winner Jackie Lee and that she has no driver license.
So I say this: Give the fashion and all their events back to the people who created this industry out of nothing. And hats of to one of my favorite Austrian designers Wendy & Jim and congratulations to Marina Hoermannseder and Jackie Lee.
And to leave on a high note – the AFA’s are important to the industry and the designers but also for the people in this country. They show that even though we are not Paris or Milan – our country has a vibrant and amazing scene so let’s give them the honor they deserve and make it about the art of fashion.
See you soon on the next fashion extravaganza.
Some awesome non essential information that will not help you at all in your day to day life but might make standing in line a little more bearable.
1. Both the pencil skirt and the A-line skirt were designed by Frenchman Christian Dior, who is singlehandedly credited with inspiring 1950s fashion.
2. The first pair of Doc Martens were created from old tires. And they still look awesome.
3. Christian Louboutin once designed shoes with a blue sole for brides to wear something blue on their wedding day! Probably very pricey today.
4. Christian Dior was so superstitious he would ask a psychic for his fashion show date.
5. The low-waist baggy pants originated in the prisons of Los Angeles, where inmates were not allowed to wear belts to hold their pants in place and afterwards it was used to show of your Calvin Kleins. This trend was started by Marty McFly in Back to the Future one…. 🙂
6. Lacoste actually had the first logo (the croc) on a garment. And then Ed Hardy took it too far.
7. In 1860s dresses were so wide that girls and women often got stuck at the doorways.
8. When Disneyland opened in 1955, it had a lingerie store right on Main Street, called Hollywood-Maxwell Intimate Apparel. It included an animatronic figure called the Wizard of Bras. WHAT?
9. The Hermès Birkin bag is named after singer Jane Birkin. The most recent singer – Lana del Rey got her own Mulberry bag. The girl that named herself after a Ford car, said she never wants to be in the spotlight and made a commercial for H&M and Jaguar in the same year.
10. The first pair of Levi’s was sold around 1853 for $6 worth of gold dust.
Alright guys so we are finally arriving at the exact date Marty McFly traveled through time to the distant and now present future in the iconic Back to Future Part 2.

Its all about fashion. Especially this movie: Who are you, Polly Maggoo (original french title: Qui êtes vous Polly Maggoo?) – 1966 B&W
Polly Maggoo is one of the cinematic gems lost in a world of sex and the city and devil wears Prada (btw how subtle is this product placement). A must see for anyone interested in fashion, film, photography and french cinema. Everything, from sets to costumes is stylish and grand. This film amounts to satire, the sparkling fashion industry, a surreal story that attacks and loves the media with incredible dialogue, very weird subplots and black and white aesthetics you just cant find anywhere else.
Directed by William Klein former fashion photographer for Vogue during the Diana Vreeland era. Through his work and style he is ranked as one of the best photographers of the 20th century. Unbelievable creative work by costume designer Janine Klein.
Great cameo appearances by famous photographers Jeanloup Sieff, Louis Faurer and the immortal Richard Avedon.
I could tell you so much more… but instead i will leave you with some images and the opening scene of Qui êtes vous Polly Maggoo?
If you are looking for just the right pair of high heels, to stand out of the crowd of pumps and peeps here are some unusual suggestions. All in all i still appreciate the huge amount of work and creative input to make shoes like that reality and they are. Each of these heels you can buy. Probably not anywhere near your area but still.
Let me introduce, Miroslava Duma. One of my new fashion icons, this stunning beauty is a former editor of Harper’s Bazaar (Russia), and now works as a freelancer for all kinds of fashion magazines (OK Magazinee (Russia), Tatler, Glamour (Russia)). She is famous for her killer looks and i am guessing has never made a bad style choice in her life. It’s hard not to salivate at the sight of her. Photographers and magazines adore her, as does, well everybody… just look at her! Nuff said.
A lot more pictures and her blog. Click here.
